Drs. Looney and Sterett present an informative and technique-based approach for reconstructing the ACL with an achilles allograft. Appropriate indications, which are covered in this program, include a history of instability in an active individual or an individual with instability despite an appropriate rehabilitation program. Routine AP and lateral views of the knee and an MRI of the knee are recommended for the work-up of this pathology. The proper surgical technique of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction using interference screws and an endoscopic procedure is shown. Graft preparation, portal establishment, femoral notchplasty, tibial tunnel creation, femoral tunnel creation, graft passage, and interference screw fixation of the graft are covered. Finally, the authors' approach to post-operative rehabilitation of the ACL-reconstructed knee is also presented. Dr. Looney has treated more than 120 patients using this technique.
