Cardiology
This program has been updated to reflect changes found in the 2005 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care. The changes described and demonstrated include:
- A universal compression-to-ventilation ratio of 30:2 for lone rescuers (except newborns)
- When to "phone first" vs. "CPR first"
- Checking for "adequate" breathing
- Use of 1 or 2 hands to give chest compressions for a child.
- Use of 15:2 compression-to-ventilation ratio for 2-rescuer CPR of infants and children
- Rotation every 2 minutes of rescuers giving compressions in 2 or more rescuer CPR
- Simplified foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO) relief instructions
